FACTS and INFORMATION: Fortunato Pio Castellani created jewels with antique themes during the years
1850-1870. His themes were those of the Etruscans in the early years of Rome. He was recreating jewelry that was made in the 9th - 4th centuries BC. Castellani studied the special gold granulation used by the ancient Etruscans and experimented until he perfected this secret technique known only by its beauty. Each minute gold grain and wire was hand applied to the fine gold surface. Castellani became world famous and traveled to the Great Exhibitions in Florence, London, Paris, Vienna, Philadelphia and Turn during the years 1861-1876, exhibiting his new creations to the entire jewelry world. The jewelry offered by Castellani today is created by the same gold techniques as in the 1850s as well as by the ancient Etruscans. All items are original Castellani designs. Each and every article of jewelry has the Castellani name plate affixed as well as the Hallmark/Trademark: "Back to Back Cs inside a diamond shape." These marks are registered trademarks of Castellani Jewellers, London, England.
